In Lethal Standoff, DiAnn Mills crafts the gripping and fast-paced story of journalist Levi Ehrlich and hostage negotiator Carrington Reed. The action slows just enough to give insight into the believably flawed characters. Levi struggles with past addiction and family dynamics. Carrington battles childhood trauma and a potentially disabling diagnosis. Though they make mistakes, they both work hard to overcome their past hurts and fears. “Pain is beautiful if we allow it to transform and restore us into the people God intended,” said Carrington Reed in the story. I felt this quote embraced the book’s theme. The twists and turns will keep you guessing until the end. A stunning debut novel by Charlsie Estess. The beauty and resilience of this story tug at your heartstrings while the gorgeous setting creates the perfect backdrop for the well drawn characters. The sweet heat and honesty between the characters keeps you turning until the last page.

Becky Wade’s "Memory Lane" in her Sons of Scandal Romance Series was a wonderful read. The description of the beautiful coast of Maine made me want to visit. Remy is a cautious but resilient female lead who overcomes a huge personal tragedy to step outside her boundaries and find love. It is a beautiful romance between two memorable characters. The drama surrounding a journey through amnesia makes this one a page turner.
